Eid Mubarak! The final clean up

Hope you all had a lovely Eid!

A few friends came in from out of town so apologies for skipping out on the last Ramadan clean up.

Since we're all back to work after the 5 day weekend (yay!) it's time to share:

Before and after:

The multipurpose closet from hell-before and after:

While going through my books I found these from uni... Ha!

And this is what I gave away:

HBO does it again.

After the 3rd episode you'll be hooked.

It makes you think if we could actually have journalists that deliver the news now a days with out personal political biased, advertising or corperate pressure. If we could be informed without being persuaded to think a certain way.
Im sure were not getting that from al jazeera or CNN. and I'm pretty sure our newspapers here i shouldn't even talk about.

Ramadan clean up part deux

Another week, another clean up- except this time I couldn't do it on the weekend as I was in Dubai.

Which meant I had to do it yesterday! Running between my bedroom and the TV room to catch a glimpse of Michael Phelps in the semi-finals *sigh.

Now we're getting into the hardcore stuff- clothes. I also got rid of a bunch of accessories and found a lot of things that needed to be repaired.

Here are some snaps of what I worked on.

My accessories-clad windowsill:

Egyptian Coat of Arms tray from the days of King Farouk- now used for pendants:

I couldn't get rid of that many rings:

But this is what I could get rid of from my tops and jackets closet:

And this is what I came across while doing all of this- an antique jacket from Marché au Puces that I still haven't worn:

Wish me luck. This weekend involves the scariest stuff of all: the multipurpose bags, jeans, perfumes, books and magazine closet EEK!

Ramadan clean up part one

Right. Where do I begin?

I almost just want to write jkhsdklfhasdlkgj;aksjfgjlhadfgkj.

Because that's how I felt Friday morning when I realised that I had to sort through A) my sock drawer which was actually refusing to stay shut due to the sheer quantity of tights/footsies/stockings/plain-old-socks. B) my make-up drawer that was full of broken bronzers and spilt highlighters C) dum dum duuuuuum: Shoes.

However I said I would do it and that's just what I did. While fasting. Without a drop of coffee or carbs.

ARTICLE A: Sock drawer before and after:

Socks now have their own drawer

ARTICLE B: Make-up before and after:

ARTICLE C: Shoe closet before and after- not a massive difference but I managed to get rid of some and fit all of them in! (There's more in the other room :-S)

I came across the first issue of M magazine I'd read (far left, below) which made me sure that I wanted to work for The National- the shoot inside was modeled by Lindsey Wixson so it makes sense.

I also found a folder (that I don't remember designing) filled with magazine cut outs and editorials that I collected when I was in school. How did I not know that I wanted to be in this business earlier?!?
